The Organisers

Kalpana Shankar is a Professor of Information and Communication Studies at University College Dublin.  Her research and teaching focus on the research ecosystem itself, open data, and data archives and sharing, as well as other work on research evaluation and peer review. She has been involved with STS since she was a PhD student at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Christo Thomas Jacob is a doctoral candidate in his second year at University College Dublin’s department of Information and Communication Studies (ICS). He is interested in Big Tech, social media, technology policy, platform governance and its impacts on the marginalised. This year, Platforming Cancel Culture: Intersections Across Digital Media, Culture, and Identity, published by Routledge, will include his most recent academic paper on cancel culture.

Registration

This conference is open to academics, early career researchers, including PhD candidates and postdoctoral fellows, as well as members of the public, who are interested & engaged in STS-related research.
